If you have a Florida Driver License or Identification Card and are out of state or out of the country, you may be eligible to process your transaction without visiting an office. See the information below for additional details.
1. Driver License and ID Card Renewals
You may be eligible to renew your Florida Driver License, Commercial Driver License or ID Card online – or scan the QR code to access the site. Your Driver License or ID card may be renewed up to 12 months in advance. You won’t lose any time by renewing early. It will just extend your expiration date. If your last renewal was by mail, phone or internet, then you may be required to visit a Florida driver license office to renew. See section 3 below for additional options.
The fee to renew online will range from $27.00 to $77.00. There is also a $7.00 fee per endorsement and a $15.00 late fee, if applicable.
2. Replacements and Address Changes
You can replace your Florida Driver License, Commercial Driver License or ID card (and request a change of address, if needed) online – or scan the QR code to access the site. Your digital image must be on file (license or ID issued in an office on or after 07/01/95) in order to complete your transaction online. If your digital image in not on file, see section 3 below for an additional option.
The fee to replace your driver license or ID card online is $27.00.
3. Temporary Driving Permits and Extensions
If you have lost your Florida driver license or need an extension (current license is valid but will expire soon), you may be eligible to receive a 1 time 90 day temporary permit. The permit will NOT contain a photo, but will allow you to drive legally. To apply, visit https://flhsmv.service-now.com/csp?id=flhsmv_csp_dl_index and select the option “Driver License/ID Card” and then “Temporary Driving Permit” to send an email request to the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV).
