Donate Life Florida is a non-profit organization that was selected by the State of Florida, Agency for Health Care Administration, and was established in 1997. The organization has partnered with the Joshua Abbott Organ and Tissue Donor Registry (created in 2009) to inspire Floridians to become organ, tissue and eye donors through easy, user-friendly means of joining the state’s Registry.

Today, roughly 115,000 children and adults are awaiting life-saving organ transplants, resulting in an average of 22 deaths per day in the United States due to the lack of organ donors. By becoming an organ donor, you may save up to eight lives; by becoming a tissue or eye donor, you may enrich the lives of dozens.

Prior to the creation of state donor registries, consent for donation had to be given by the donor’s family members, who were not always aware of their loved one’s wishes. The Joshua Abbott Organ and Tissue Donor Registry will provide your family with a copy of your Registry sign-up at the hospital, leaving no doubt about your decision to donate life.
