Electronic Titles (E-Titles)

1. Visit the Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) online services website (mydmvportal.flhsmv.gov) or scan the QR code to access the site.
   
   
   
   It is less expensive and more convenient! The cost per title is only $2.50 and the service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Your paper title will be mailed to you within 7-10 business days.

2. Request to print your Florida title online through the Manatee County Tax Collector's Online Application to Print or Replace a Florida Title (https://form.jotform.com/Operationsmail/onlineduplicatetitle).

   The title transaction will be processed within 6 business days of submitting the request and the title will be mailed from the FLHSMV in Tallahassee. You should plan 2 to 4 weeks to receive your title. An additional processing fee applies when processing online and the Manatee County Tax Collector's Office does not retain any portion of the processing fee.

Option 3. Make an Appointment at Taxcollector.com

Your paper title can also be printed in person at any local Tax Collector’s Office.  (Note: Our office does not offer printed titles by mail.)  The cost is up to $10.00 per title. 

Note: A Fast Title Authorization form signed by the owner and a copy of the owner’s ID may be used in lieu of a Power of Attorney.

Acceptable Methods of Payment

Our office accepts cash, check, debit cards, and credit cards. A $2.50 processing fee for debit cards and a 2.5% processing fee (minimum of $2.50) for credit cards will apply. Our office does not retain any portion of this fee.

What is an Electronic Title (or E-Title)?

An electronic title (or e-title) is a certificate of title that is stored electronically and has not been printed to paper. It is maintained in an electronic status at no cost to you until you (the owner) or your lienholder requests that a paper title be printed.  Request an e-title when transferring a title into your name or when adding a lien to an existing title in your name. 

Why Should You Store Your Title Electronically?

First and foremost, it is a fraud deterrent.  By choosing to store your title electronically, you get immediate peace of mind in knowing that your title record is in a safe and secure (electronic) location.  This means that there is much less of a chance that someone could get their hands on your title and transfer ownership without your knowledge.
 
Save time looking for a lost or stolen certificate of title!  Store it electronically, so you don’t misplace or lose it. You could also potentially save up to $85, which is the typical cost for a lost or stolen title! 

When Do I Need to Convert an E-Title to a Paper Title?

As long as you own your car, motorcycle, boat or mobile home, you do not need to convert your title to paper.  (Your proof of ownership is your vehicle registration.)
 
However, before you sell your vehicle to a private party (not a dealer), you will need to request that your e-title be converted to a paper title. Once you have your paper title, you will complete the appropriate “Transfer of Title by Seller” section to transfer your interest to the buyer. 

What If My Lienholder is an Individual or Exempt Business?

If your lienholder is an individual or a business that is exempt from being an ELT participant, the lienholder can choose to apply for the paper title in person. This can be done as early as four business days after the transfer has been completed.
 
Note: Individuals as lienholders are exempt from completing the Fast Title Authorization Form mentioned above. However, the Fast Title Authorization Form is required if the lienholder is a business. 

How do I know if my lienholder has released my electronic title?

You can check the status of your title one of two ways:

1. The State’s Motor Vehicle Check - services.flhsmv.gov/MVCheckWeb

• Enter the vehicle’s title number or Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and click Search.
• The title/lien status will appear beneath the Net Weight field (see image below).
• If it shows “Electronic Title with Electronic Lien”, your lien has not yet been released in the DHSMV’s system.

2. Visit the State's MyDMV Portal – or scan the QR code to access the site  

• MyDMV Portal > Motor Vehicle > Print My Title > Update/Next
  • Locate the vehicle under “Titles.”
  • If it shows the message “This title cannot be printed because liens exist”, your lien has not yet been released in the DHSMV’s system.

Non-Manatee County residents
