1. OUT-OF-STATE TRANSFERS AND FLORIDA RENEWALS / REPLACEMENTS
When your Florida license or ID card is issued, your previous license or ID card must be surrendered. Pursuant to the Federal Real ID Act, you may not have more than one valid license or ID card at any time.

2. SUSPENDED, REVOKED OR CANCELLED DRIVER LICENSES
If you have an active suspension, revocation or cancellation on your driver license record, you are required to surrender your driver license to our office.
Section 322.059, Florida Statutes, states that any person whose driver’s license or registration has been suspended as provided in s. 322.058, F.S. must immediately return his or her driver license and registration/plate to our office for cancellation (as an agent for the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles).

3. SURRENDERING FOR SOMEONE ELSE
Only the person who holds the license has the ability to voluntarily surrender it to our office. That person must be present and must verbally indicate that they wish to surrender the license because they no longer wish to drive.
This person would be eligible to apply for an ID card (if needed). This can be completed one of two ways:
1. Save time and money! They can request to downgrade their Florida driver license to an ID card online – or scan the QR code to access the site – for an estimated fee of $27.00. Their ID card will be mailed to them.
2. In person for an estimated fee of $31.25.
Our office accepts cash, check, debit cards, and credit cards. A $2.50 processing fee for debit cards and a 2.5% processing fee (minimum of $2.50) for credit cards will apply. Our office does not retain any portion of this fee.
You must present documents that establish your identity pursuant to the Real ID Act (i.e. birth certificate, U.S. passport, USCIS [INS] documents*, proof of name change[s], Social Security Card, and 2 proofs of residential address) unless you have already been issued a Real ID compliant Florida Driver License or ID card and no changes are required. *Non-US citizens must have at least 61 days remaining on their legal presence documentation.
