THIS TRANSACTION MUST BE PROCESSED BY APPOINTMENT AT THE
DRIVER LICENSE BRANCH – 904 301 BLVD W, BRADENTON
Customers will be charged a $6.25 Tax Collector service fee for information and processing, and additional transaction fees may apply. Visit taxcollector.com to schedule your appointment. Services are for Manatee County residents and businesses only.
If your license is suspended or revoked, we urge you not to drive to or from our office, as you may be ticketed or arrested by law enforcement if caught driving. (There are no exceptions or allowances in Florida Statutes [the law] that would allow a person to drive to a tax collector or driver license office on a suspended or revoked license.)
This type of suspension remains in effect for twenty (20) years from the original suspension date or until you comply with one of the reinstatement requirements below. It can be extended for an additional twenty (20) years at which point a new case will be opened and another suspension will be applied to your driver license record.
Option 1: YOU PAID THE JUDGMENT IN FULL OR ARE MAKING PAYMENTS
For drivers suspended on or after May 1, 2018, you must carry Bodily Injury Liability (BIL) and Property Damage Liability (PDL) coverage certified by an SR-22 form for three years from the original SR-22 *certificate effective date. The SR-22 form can be submitted in one of the following formats:
- Electronic: Your insurance company may be able to post your SR-22 electronically to your driver record.
- Paper: You may submit an original SR-22, which you would receive in person from your insurance agent.
- Fax: You may have your insurance company fax the SR-22 directly to our office. The fax must be accompanied by a coversheet including the insurance company name and phone number.
- Email: You may provide a printed copy of the email sent by your insurance company or insurance agent containing the attached SR-22. The entire email (including the sender's information) and the SR-22 attachment must be printed. Submissions from a private or personal email address will not be accepted.
Note: Insurance cards or policies will not be accepted in place of the SR-22.
You must provide proof from the judgment creditor or judgment creditor’s attorney that you have either paid the judgment in full or have agreed to make installment payments towards the full amount of the judgment. The proof must be in the form of one of the following (if not already on file electronically):
- Satisfaction of Judgment (Form HSMV 74038) - This is a statement of full satisfaction from the judgment creditor or judgment creditor’s attorney.
- Consent of Judgment (Form HSMV 74034) - This is a statement from the judgment creditor or judgment creditor’s attorney allowing reinstatement of all suspended items based on an agreement between the judgment creditor and debtor to accept and make installment payments toward the full amount of the judgment. (If you fail to make the installment payments, the judgment creditor may request the re-suspension of your driver license.)
Your SR-22 and Satisfaction of Judgment or letter will be scanned and subject to verification.
Option 2: YOU FILED FOR BANKRUPTCY OR DISCHARGE OF DEBTOR
You must present a Petition for Bankruptcy or a Discharge of Debtor showing where bankruptcy was filed. It must be accompanied by the schedule of creditors, which includes the judgment plaintiff(s) or their representative. If a schedule of creditors is not available with a Discharge of Debtor, and it does not specifically identify the debt involved (for the FR case), you must provide either a court document or a letter from the bankruptcy attorney that the Discharge of Debtor discharges the debt in question.
Note: These documents must indicate they have been filed with the court.
Your original SR-22 and the Petition for Bankruptcy or Discharge of Debtor will be scanned and subject to verification.

Invalid License Information
Is your license currently suspended, revoked and/or cancelled? If your driver license is suspended, revoked and/or cancelled, driving any type of vehicle may result in:
- ARREST by law enforcement
- TOWING of your vehicle
We urge you to respect the law and make arrangements other than driving a vehicle to avoid the unfortunate events above. A free public phone and computer are provided in the lobby to call for a ride from our office or to access the Manatee County Area Transit (MCAT) website.
Note: A minor child operating a motor vehicle with a learner license must be accompanied by another adult with a valid license (non-suspended).
How can you get your license back once it's reinstated? If your license was retained by one of our branches due to a suspension, revocation and/or cancellation, you may be able to have it returned for no additional fee once it has been reinstated. Licenses retained by our office are only kept for a short period of time before they are destroyed.
If you are interested in getting your license back, you must do the following within 1-2 days after your license was retained.
- Return to the branch that retained your license.
- Print the screen from https://mydmvportal.flhsmv.gov/home/en/publicweb/dlcheck that shows your license is “VALID” that day.
- Provide the screen print to the receptionist.
If your license has been destroyed or you opt to purchase a replacement license at the time you reinstate your driving privilege, you would be subject to the $31.25 replacement fee.
