1. Changing The Address On Your Florida Driver License Or Identification Card
The Federal Real ID Act requires documentation that establishes your identity when applying for a Florida Driver License or ID Card. A STAR on your Florida Driver License or ID Card means you are Real ID Compliant. There are a couple of different designs in circulation (examples shown on the right). Once you obtain Real ID Compliance, proof may not need to be resubmitted unless changes are needed. | ![]() |
If NOT Real ID Compliant, you are required to provide documents that will establish your identity. For a complete list of acceptable identity documents, visit flhsmv.gov/whattobring.
You have the following options to change the address of your Florida Driver License, Commercial Driver License or Identification Card:

An Online Application is REQUIRED for all transactions! To complete your driver license or ID card transaction at one of our branches, you must complete the Online Driver License & ID Card Application (https://taxcollector.jotform.com/210103795736152) – or scan the QR code to access the application – prior to your appointment. Do not print the application; an associate will access your electronic submission during your appointment. Applications are valid for 90 days.
We have two convenient offices to serve you: Our West Manatee Branch, and our East Manatee Branch.
If you are a non-US Citizen or hold/want to obtain a Commercial Driver License (CDL), you must visit our Driver License Branch.
Bring two physical documents for proof of your residential address – it cannot be a PO Box. The documents must show your name and your residential address.

- Manatee County Property Tax Bill - obtain here (https://secure.taxcollector.com/ptaxweb)
- Manatee County Voter Registration Information - obtain here (votemanatee.com/Voter-Information/Voter-Status-Information-Check-Your-Registration-Status)
- Deed, Mortgage Statement, or Rental/Lease Agreement
- Selective Service Card
- Current Homeowner's or Automobile insurance policy/bill
- Most recent W-2 or 1099
- Utility bills (such as water, gas, electric, cell phone, cable)*
- Automobile payment booklet*
- Medical/Health card or medical bill*
- Paycheck stub*
- Financial statements (such as bank, credit cards, investment accounts)*
- Documents issued by Federal, State, County or City Government Agencies*
*must be dated within the last 60 days
If you are unable to provide two (2) proofs of residential address in your name as outlined above, you must comply with one of the following options in order to establish proof of residence:
Option 1:
Customers unable to provide proof of residential address in their name (as outlined above) may have the person they reside with complete a Certification of Address form (English - flhsmv.gov/pdf/forms/71120.pdf / Spanish - flhsmv.gov/pdf/forms/71120sp.pdf) along with providing two proof of address documents as outlined on the form. The person the customer lives with must be present at the appointment OR must sign the Certification of Address form in the presence of a notary.
Option 2:
Customers who are homeless and reside in an agency where housing services are provided (such as a homeless shelter or probation home) may provide the following:
- a letter from an authorized Manatee County homeless shelter, transitional service provider or half-way house verifying the customers resides at the agency's address (must be dated within the last 60 days) AND
- Section A of the Certification of Address form Certification of Address form (English - flhsmv.gov/pdf/forms/71120.pdf / Spanish - flhsmv.gov/pdf/forms/71120sp.pdf) completed by the customer, self-certifying their residential address.
Option 3:
Customers under the age of 18 may present two proofs of residential address as outlined above in their parent or guardian's name. Proof of relationship (such as birth certificate, military dependent ID card, etc.) is required.
Note: The above address requirements do not apply if you hold/want to obtain a Commercial Driver License. If processing in-person, please refer to the Commercial Driver License publication for specific address requirements for CDL holders.

Renewal (Class E): $48.00 + $7.00 per endorsement
Renewal (CDL): $75.00 + $7.00 per endorsement

2. Changing The Address On Your Florida Motor Vehicle, Boat or Mobile Home Registration
Once you have updated the address on your Florida Driver License or ID card, you have 30 days to update the address on your vehicle, boat and/or mobile home registration(s).
You have the following options to change the address of your Florida registrations:
Option 1. Save a trip! You can change your address (and renew*, if applicable) online - or scan the QR code to access the site.
*Some exceptions may apply.
Option 2. Visit one of our offices - Appointments are REQUIRED for all transactions! Visit taxcollector.com to schedule an appointment. We only serve Manatee County Residents. (See Section 6 for Non-Manatee County Resident options.) We have two convenient offices to serve you: Our West Manatee Branch, and our East Manatee Branch. Failure to select the correct transaction type will invalidate your appointment.

3. Changing The Address On Your Florida Motor Vehicle, Boat or Mobile Home Title
The address on your Florida motor vehicle, boat and/or mobile home title is not required to be updated.

4. Changing The Address For Your Florida Property Taxes
It is important to keep your mailing address up to date with the Property Appraiser to ensure you receive any notices in a timely manner. Address changes are handled by the Property Appraiser's Office. Visit manateepao.gov and complete a Mailing Address Change Request. (See Section 6 for Non-Manatee County Resident options.)
Note: The Tax Collector's Office cannot update any information on the tax roll, including name and/or address changes.
5. Changing the Address on Your Hunting and/or Fishing Licenses
You can update your address information for Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) accounts through the Go Outdoors Florida Website (https://gooutdoorsflorida.com). You can also manage your account, including payment methods, applications, and permits. Log into your account and easily update your contact information.
6. Changing the Address on File with FDACS (CWL)
To notify the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services about your change of address, visit their Concealed Weapon License FAQ Page (https://www.fdacs.gov/Consumer-Resources/Concealed-Weapon-License/Concealed-Weapon-License-FAQ/How-do-I-notify-FDACS-about-my-change-of-address) for instructions on how to do so online or by mail.
7. Additional Information
Our office accepts cash, check, debit cards, and credit cards. A $2.50 processing fee for debit cards and a 2.5% processing fee (minimum of $2.50) for credit cards will apply. Our office does not retain any portion of this fee.
8. Non-Manatee County Residents
- Driver License/ID Cards - Out-of-county residents must visit their home county for information and processing. To find a location, visit www.flhsmv.gov/locations.
- DMV - Out-of-county residents can only be served at Manatee County Tag Agency. Visit www.autotagagency.net for more information. Manatee County Tag Agency does not process any driver license or property tax transactions.
- Property Taxes - Out-of-county residents would need to contact their county's Property Appraiser's Office. To find a location, visit floridarevenue.com/property/pages/localofficials.aspx.
