The following contains our payment policy, a list of payment methods we accept based on transaction type and payment location, and our processing fees.
Payment Policy
Reviewing this policy beforehand will help ensure we can process your payment.
- All payments must be payable to Ken Burton Jr., Tax Collector.
- We do not accept "starter" checks.
- To ensure the best service for all customers waiting to process transactions in person, we allow the following coin payment methods:
- Unrolled nickels, dimes, and quarters - only if the amount of these coins is ten dollars or less
- Unrolled pennies - only for an amount that makes exact change up to one dollar
- Rolled pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters - only if:
- The rolls are full
- You provide legal photo identification
- You write your name and phone number on each roll
First Manatee South County Tag Agency, which is privately owned and not a Manatee County Tax Collector office, may have a different payment policy. For details, contact that agency by phone at (941) 782-6050 or visit their website at autotagagency.net.
Processing Fees
If you complete your transaction in person, a processing fee applies when paying with a debit card or credit card. For debit cards, the fee is $2.50. For credit cards, the fee is 2.5% with a minimum of $2.50.
Our office does not retain any portion of this fee.
